Used as an aid to stabilise the foot and ankle when retaining normal walking in the latter stages of neuro-rehabilitation.
The most recently designed URIAS inflatable air Splint is used as an aid to stabilise the foot and ankle when retaining normal walking, normally in the latter stages of neuro rehabilitation after the initial shoulder work and trunk stabilisation has been successful.
It has a non-inflated sole for walking flat and is for use indoors only.
Its effect is twofold:
- For a dragging inverted foot, the lateral chamber is inflated first then with a little stabilising inflation of the medial chamber.
- For excessive eversion of the foot, the medial chamber is inflated first then with a little inflatation of the lateral chamber.
By wearing this air splint it also “subconsciously” causes the patient to lift the foot off the ground for a correct walking pattern.
